But another, more subtle reason is: presenters do not “kill their darlings” . As a result, they have too much to say, and hence too much to remember. Since they cannot remember everything, they put all their content into slides, where they can read their notes to their bored audience. But if you can’t remember your presentation while you are giving it, what chance does your audience have of remembering it when you’re done?!

The Naked Presenter
Can you guess what comment I hear most during my workshop? During the morning the participants deliver their prepared presentations, usually using PowerPoint. Then, about halfway through the day, the participants suddenly say something like, “We’ve been doing presentations completely wrong” . By the end of the day, almost everyone will drop PowerPoint for their final presentation.
